Mr. Yamada joined the firm in 2013 after receiving a Masters of Intellectual Property from the University of New Hampshire School of Law. He is the head of the Japanese practice section of the firm. Before joining the firm, Mr. Yamada spent several years representing multinational corporations before the Japanese Patent Office. Fluent in both English and Japanese, Shintaro’s knowledge of Japanese and American patent law and his language skills are particularly beneficial to Japanese companies filing patent applications in the U.S. and to American companies seeking patents in Japan.

Shintaro has extensive experience in a variety of technical areas, including organic and inorganic chemistry, cosmetics, foods, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, automotive products, and office equipment.

Shintaro frequently speaks at IP seminars for Japanese companies/law firms on American patent law and practice.

Mr. Yamada is admitted to the New York State Bar, US Patent and Trademark Office and the Japanese Patent Office.  He received his JD from Brooklyn Law School, and a Master of Science in Chemistry from Tokyo Metropolitan University.
